Heather and Ty's rustic wedding at Millikan Farms was not only a joy for me to photograph, but they made me and my team feel like family. Small and intimate personal DIY details set the tone for a memorable celebration. Upon entering the barn, you were greeted by a photo collage set on some old vintage suitcases. Directly beside the collage was a galvanized bucket filled with invitations made by the bride. She also attached a small black and white photo-strip to each invitation with a mini wooden clothespin. They chose to have their first look by the lake shaded by some gorgeous large oaks. Once guests arrived and ascended up the stairs they were intrigued to find a romantic ceremony site with exposed beams adorned with baby's breath, pink roses and ivy. Their officiant, Doug Blanchard, led a very sweet and memorable ceremony and I even found myself getting a tad teary-eyed as I captured their vow exchange. The reception was coordinated by Amy Wurster of Knots & Such, (whom I always enjoy working along-side). Guests enjoyed delicious food by Sweet Basils and then danced the night away as DJ Paul Cordts played some catchy tunes. They concluded their event with a picture-perfect sparkler exit.
